Yuuko has the power to manipulate one's perception. This is limited only to herself and her immediate surroundings, so she can be perceived as whatever the person expects to see, hear, feel, etc. She has no control over this power.

Examples of Yuuko's perception manipulation:

• While Teiichi was looking for a ghost, Yuuko was silent the entire time. Teiichi, however, heard her call his name.
  
• Kirie did some research on Yuuko's past, thus thought of her as an ugly, vengeful spirit. She saw Yuuko as a rotten corpse.
  
• Teiichi sees Yuuko as her true form, a 15-year-old girl, except for a time when Kirie's stories made him fearful of Yuuko. He saw Yuuko as a rotten corpse until he got over his fear.
  
• Momoe heard about the story of the Underground Demon and was afraid of being killed by it. She saw Yuuko as what she imagined the Underground Demon to look like.
  
• Two students wanted to believe that one of them was not responsible for the property damage in the school. One of them made up a rumor that it was a ghost. They saw Yuuko as this ghost, but not as her true self.
  
• The school nurse knew a classmate, Kakihara-kun, who died in the school years back. She saw Yuuko as Kakihara-kun.
  
• The Paranormal Investigations Club did a haunted house for the cultural festival. To the customers who expected to see something, Yuuko appeared as whatever they feared the most.
